History
Creating value for clients since 1989. With over twenty five years of experience, our independent culture remains a hallmark of our firm.
SKBA Capital Management's investment disciplines and commitment to meeting client objectives have been developed, refined and maintained since 1989. Our boutique culture remains a hallmark of our firm. The founding principals had previously worked together for several years as the Institutional Management Group at a major regional bank in California.
SKBA's founding principals sought to create a firm focused on value investing grounded in the fundamental belief of research-driven investing in both equity and fixed income. Our organization was registered with the SEC in 1989 as an independent firm. In 1999, SKBA became an affiliate of Convergent Capital Management (CCM), an investment management holding company. In 2011, SKBA principals repurchased a majority of our company from CCM, who remains a trusted partner and minority investor.
Today, SKBA's employee and member shareholders own over 76% of our business and our partner CCM continues to hold the remaining non-controlling minority interest. No single shareholder owns more than 25% of the firm. In addition to being majority owners of our firm, employees are invested directly along with our clients in the strategies we manage.
Throughout our history, SKBA has remained dedicated to delivering desirable performance characteristics paired with exceptional client service and continues to adhere to our founding principles. Our firm's success continues as we deliver our clients exceptional service and performance through an experienced team of professionals committed to the same investment principles that have distinguished our firm throughout its history.
